Organization Talk: Ms. Haynie will walk students through how to set-up their binders, how to use their agendas, how to use the team and teachers' websites, and how to use their "Homework Folder". 4. Homework: Students need to make sure that all the forms they received in Homeroom are signed and returned by Friday, July 15th. Students also need to make sure they have the basic school supplies. Students will need earbuds on Wednesday-Friday of this week. Table of Contents (TOC) Introduction (*See Table of Contents Button on Home Page) 2. Science Notebook (SNB) Introduction --> Students will complete their 1st Entry; see the Agenda for July 12th on the link above 3. Growth Mindset Discussion and Classwork: Students had a discussion today in class about the difference between having a "Fixed Mindset" and a "Growth Mindset" and why making mistakes and failing is okay. Students are to get the message that we learn from our mistakes. This will be a theme throughout all classes this year. The discussion ended with their first classwork assignment - "Growth Mindset Letter" (labeled #1 for their TOC). These letters will be turned in for their 1st classwork grade for Science. 4. Homework: A. Finish "Growth Mindset Letter" (#1) if not completed in class. Turn in tomorrow. B. Make sure to get forms signed including the Science Safety Contract from the baggie. C. Classwork: Work on completing the 2 Edpuzzle video assignments on Observations & Inferences. We will finish these 2 video assignments up tomorrow if not completed today in class. 4. These pre-assessment scores will be used to help plan differentiated instruction and to help students set growth goal for the end of the year. Classwork: "Flashback Friday Tweet" After finishing the Pre-Assessment, students will complete their "Flashback Friday Tweet". Each Friday students will complete one of these "tweets" to describe in 140 characters or less, something they learned from the week. The template for this "tweet" will be uploaded soon. 4. Lab: "Making Observations" (#3); Students completed a lab using all 5 senses to make observations about an object. Descriptive sentences and a paragraph were part of the activity.
